Head of Infrastructure

  • Kyiv, Kyiv

About the role

We are looking for a technically strong Head of Infrastructure to lead our infrastructure engineering function, including DevOps, Systems, Network, and related engineering teams.

This is not a pure people-management role. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead multiple teams and take ownership of infrastructure as a whole.

You should be able to make sound infrastructure decisions, challenge architectural approaches, identify systemic weaknesses, and understand technical trade-offs — while building an effective engineering organization around you.

What you’ll do

  • Lead DevOps and related Infrastructure Engineering teams.
  • Build and continuously improve processes across the Infrastructure/Operations function.
  • Own the reliability, performance, scalability, and operational quality of production infrastructure.
  • Participate in key infrastructure and architecture decisions.
  • Define and drive the infrastructure roadmap and technical debt reduction.
  • Establish and improve incident management, postmortem, and recurring-problem management processes.
  • Develop monitoring, observability, capacity planning, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Improve production change management and increase infrastructure automation.
  • Partner closely with Backend Engineering, Security, and other technical teams.
  • Hire, develop, mentor, and evaluate engineers and technical leads.
  • Define technical standards and operational requirements for production systems.
  • Ensure infrastructure decisions are aligned with business needs, reliability goals, and long-term scalability.

Your technical background

We expect a strong engineering background and a practical understanding of how modern production infrastructure works.

You should have solid knowledge of:

  • Linux and operating system fundamentals.
  • TCP/IP, routing, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and modern network architectures.
  • Kubernetes and container infrastructure.
  • Virtualization and bare-metal infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.
  • CI/CD and deployment processes.
  • Monitoring, metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • High-availability and fault-tolerant architectures.
  • Storage, databases, and distributed systems at a level sufficient for infrastructure decision-making.
  • Security practices for production infrastructure.
  • Backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

You won’t be expected to configure servers or Kubernetes clusters on a daily basis. However, you should be able to go deep into technical problems when needed, ask the right questions, understand engineering trade-offs, and independently evaluate proposed technical solutions.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience managing DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure, or similar engineering teams.
  • Knows how to lead through technical leads and senior engineers rather than becoming a bottleneck for every technical decision.
  • Can balance reliability, delivery speed, infrastructure costs, and technical debt.
  • Can turn infrastructure challenges into a clear, prioritized engineering backlog and systematically address them.
  • Can establish effective processes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Can lead major production incident reviews with a focus on systemic causes and prevention rather than blame.
  • Can communicate complex technical topics effectively to both engineers and company leadership.
  • Takes ownership of infrastructure not just as a collection of systems, but as a strategic engineering function.

What success looks like

We want Infrastructure to operate as a mature engineering function, rather than a reactive team handling an endless stream of operational requests.

Success means that Infrastructure has:

  • Clear ownership and technical standards.
  • A well-defined architecture and infrastructure roadmap.
  • Transparent priorities and measurable goals.
  • Strong reliability and operational practices.
  • Effective incident and problem management.
  • A high level of automation.
  • Clear visibility into infrastructure risks, constraints, and technical debt.

As Head of Infrastructure, you will maintain a clear understanding of the current state of our infrastructure, its major risks and constraints, and — most importantly — a concrete plan for its continued development.
